CHAN KAY HENG

Chan Kay Heng leads Chan & Chan Advocates’ Nanas Road office and is now in his 49th year of practice with the firm. He was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Sarawak on 19 January 1977. His practice currently focuses on property law and conveyancing transactions. Over nearly five decades, he has advised generations of Kuching families, developers, banks, and businesses on land transfers, sale & purchase agreements, financing, strata titles, and complex title rectification matters. A graduate of the University of Singapore, Mr. Chan is known for his meticulous attention to detail, technical mastery of Sarawak land law, and practical, client-focused approach.
DANNY CHAN CHENG SAN

Danny Chan Cheng San is the Managing Partner of Chan & Chan Advocates. He obtained his B.A/LLB from Monash University in 1994. He was admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria as a Barrister and Solicitor in November 1994, and to the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak as an Advocate on 29 May 1995. He has over 30 years’ experience practicing at the Sarawak Bar. Mr. Chan possesses extensive litigation experience, having appeared as counsel at all levels of the Malaysian Courts. His practice encompasses corporate and commercial matters, civil litigation, and real estate and property development. He advises developers on bridging loan facilities and legal documentation in connection with residential projects and mixed development in Sarawak. Mr. Chan has served as a Commissioner of Oaths since 1 April 2005 till present. Under his leadership, Chan & Chan Advocates provides technically precise legal advice with particular knowledge of Sarawak law and practice.


LILIAN CHAN CHOON LI

Lilian Chan Choon Li is an advocate with 23 years’ experience practicing in Sarawak, specializing in property law, estate administration, and matters involving local government authorities. She obtained her B.A/ LLB from the University of Western Australia in 2003, was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in the Supreme Court of Western Australia on 2 April 2004, and subsequently admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak in December 2004. Lilian advises first-time homebuyers, commercial clients, property developers, and foreign purchasers of Malaysian real estate. Her property practice covers sale and purchase of residential and commercial property, end-financing and commercial mortgage documentation, conveyancing from booking form to completion, title investigations, and tenancy agreements including landlord and tenant disputes. She regularly liaises with local government departments on regulatory, approval, and compliance matters affecting land and property transactions. For individual and foreign clients, she provides clear guidance on procedural and compliance requirements under Sarawak law. In estate administration, Lilian advises on wills and estate planning, and acts in applications for probate and letters of administration.
CHAN KAY POH, AMN

With over 50 years in the legal industry, Mr. Chan Kay Poh is one of Sarawak’s most experienced advocates. After being called to the Bar , he was admitted to the High Court in Sabah and Sarawak in 1976 and served in the Sarawak judiciary as Magistrate for Kuching District from 1976 to 1982. After leaving the judiciary, he has practiced at Chan & Chan Advocates for 43 years. Mr. Chan’s practice focuses on property law, estate administration, banking law, and family law. He is known for his steady counsel and deep knowledge of Sarawak land and succession matters. He holds a B.A. from the University of Tasmania and was called to the UK Bar at Middle Temple, London. He is a recipient of the Ahli Mangku Negara (A.M.N.).


DAYANG NORHAMIMAH BINTI ABANG HAMRIN

Dayang Norhamimah binti Abang Hamrin has over 24 years of practice, primarily in litigation. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the International Islamic University Malaysia and was admitted to practice as an Advocate in Sarawak in 2002, and subsequently as a Peguam Syarie in 2003. Her areas of practice encompass a broad range of family law matters in both civil and Syariah jurisdictions. In civil matters, she handles both joint petition and single petition divorces, while in Syariah matters, she advises and represents clients in divorce proceedings, sulh (mediation), and hadhanah (custody of children). She also has extensive experience in commercial and contractual disputes, debt recovery, hire purchase matters, bankruptcy proceedings, and land-related matters. Dayang Norhamimah provides clear guidance on wills and hibah, and the obtainment of Sijil Faraid. She is committed to providing clear, thoughtful guidance while standing firmly in her clients’ best interests at every stage of their legal journey.
ZOE CHAN GEOK LIN

Zoe holds a double degree from Monash University, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance), and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria in October 2020. She was subsequently admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak in September 2021. Zoe regularly acts in the sale and purchase of residential and commercial properties, housing and commercial financing transactions, tenancy matters, and related conveyancing work. Her experience includes handling tenancy matters relating to telecommunications tower sites, as well as commercial and retail premises within newly developed commercial projects. Zoe advises clients on estate planning, prepares wills, and processes applications for grants of probate and letters of administration in Sarawak. She also assists with the administration of estates, including property transfers, liaising with local and overseas financial institutions to realise and distribute estate assets, and attending to other related transactions. Zoe acts for corporate and individual clients in the recovery of outstanding debts and commercial claims, including telecommunications-related debt recovery matters. She advises clients at every stage of the recovery process, from pre-action strategies and letters of demand to the commencement of proceedings, obtaining judgments, and enforcing court orders. Her experience includes handling writ actions, default judgments, execution proceedings, and other enforcement measures. Zoe assists clients with joint petition divorces and related family law matters, with an emphasis on resolving disputes in an amicable and sensitive manner. Drawing on both her legal training and finance background, Zoe takes a practical approach to her work and is committed to providing clear and reliable advice to clients. She strives to assist clients in resolving their legal matters efficiently and with due regard to their individual circumstances.
